Terms of service
Last updated 13 September 2026
These are the terms for using Goodlines. They are written to be read, and they do not take away any rights the law gives you as a consumer.
The service
Goodlines is a web application for building CVs and cover letters, provided by [Legal entity name], [Registered address]. By using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Your account
- You can use the builder without an account. A guest account keeps your work for seven days; if you do not save it with an email address in that time, it is deleted.
- You are responsible for keeping your password private and for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.
- You must be at least 16 to hold an account.
What is free and what is paid
Building, editing and previewing documents is free, with no time limit. Downloading, sharing and the AI features need an access pass. Passes are listed on the pricing page.
- A pass is a one-off purchase for a fixed number of weeks. It does not renew and you will not be charged again unless you buy another one.
- Buying a pass while one is active adds the new weeks to the end of your current access.
- Each pass includes an allowance of AI tokens for the AI features. Unused tokens expire when the pass ends.
- When a pass ends your documents stay in your account and you can keep editing them. Downloading again needs a new pass.
- Prices are shown before tax. VAT for your country is added at checkout and shown before you pay.
Payment and refunds
Payments are taken by Paddle, our merchant of record, so your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s checkout terms and Paddle issues your receipt. [Refund policy: state the terms here, for example a no-questions refund within 7 days of purchase, or that passes are non-refundable once used. Consumers in the UK and EU keep their statutory rights regardless.]
Your content
Everything you put into the service stays yours. You give us permission to store, process, display and export it, and to send parts of it to our service providers, only as needed to provide the service to you. We do not use your content to train AI models and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for what you put in. Do not upload content you have no right to use, and do not include other people’s personal data beyond what a CV normally carries, such as a referee’s name and contact details given with their agreement.
AI features
The AI features draft, rewrite and read text. They can be wrong, and they will write confidently either way. Everything they produce is a suggestion for you to check and edit. You are responsible for the accuracy of any CV or letter you send, and we make no promise that a document will get you an interview or a job.
AI features have fair-use limits to keep the service affordable for everyone. Text is checked against a moderation service before it is processed, and we may refuse or stop processing content that is abusive, unlawful, or intended to make the service misbehave.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to create documents that are fraudulent or defamatory;
- attempt to access other people’s accounts or documents;
- scrape, copy or resell the service, its templates or its output at scale;
- interfere with the service’s security or performance, or circumvent its limits.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your documents.
Sharing links
If you turn on a public link for a CV, anyone with the link can view it. You decide when to turn it off. We are not responsible for what someone does with a link you have shared.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available at all times but cannot promise it. We may change or withdraw features, and we will give reasonable notice of any change that removes something you have paid for. If we withdraw the service entirely during a pass you have paid for, we will refund the unused part.
Our liability
We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or indirect loss, and our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Settings; this removes your documents. We may end these terms if you break them, as described above. Sections about your content, liability and governing law continue to apply after the account is closed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be handled by its courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU you may also rely on the consumer protection rules and courts of the country you live in.
